FAQ Answer: Question:
Answer: The submission report that we send you after we have submitted your website to various engines, indicates whether the submission was successful. If success was indicated for a specific engine that indicates that the information communicated by us to that engine was received by the engine. Once a specific engine, such as a search engine, receives a submission, a determination is made by the search engine relative to its disposition of the submission. For example: once a website submission is received by AltaVista, the powers to be at AltaVista decide whether to list the website, and, if listed, where to place it in their listings. Each of the search engines have their own rules which control the manner in which they accept and list any submitted website. Generally speaking one can go to the website of any given search engine and find the rules that the search engine claims controls their acceptance and placement of websites. Unfortunately these rules are sometimes not followed and experimentation by the submission service may be required. The rules of any given search engine are subject to change, which is another reason that we encourage timed re-submissions. We provide a submission service that scrupulously avoids spamming and targets all promotion to the true goals of the web site.
