Some people, when they hear the word
"Internet", instantly freak out believing that their
involvement requires some esoteric mathematical concepts and
in order to deal with the "Internet" it will be necessary to
learn the equivalent of a new foreign language. |
First of all lets determine what the Internet is. Simply stated it is merely a bunch of data that computers placed in a depository (the Internet). This data is then made accessible to anyone using a computer that contains a program that access to the Internet. In some ways it can be likened to the Yellow Pages of a telephone directory. The problem with the telephone directory is that the directory only talks to you, you can't talk back to it. That's where the Internet has a huge advantage. In many instances you are looking at someone's web site and you want to contact them, you can usually find that the website provides facilities which allow you the opportunity to contact the company behind the web site.
It's just that simple. The Internet is simply a place that once you belong, people can communicate with you and you can communicate with them through the facilities afforded by the Internet.
